Educational Philosophies

Philosophy of Education:

I believe that each student I have walk into my classroom, has the chance to bring something unique and special to my class, and to the world.  Every class will always be a unique group of learners that will vary from their own abilities to their own learning styles.  As a teacher, it is my role to be able to give students the tools they need to be successful learners so that they can expand upon their knowledge.  With this knowledge I will help children become who they want to be so they can create, and build upon their own ideas.  Those ideas can be future ideas that will change the world.

Classroom Learning Environment Philosophy:

In order for our classroom to function properly, and for all my students to feel accepted and wanted, my classroom will always be a place of respect.  We will always accept everyone for who they are, and where they come from in a nurturing environment.  I will provide a dynamic and safe environment for all, that will encourage students to learn through the positive engagement and creativity they create.  With this place of respect, my students will learn to become leaders, do their best work, and collaborate with others as a team.

Assessment Philosophy:

Assessment is always an ongoing process, and assessments will provide information about areas of strength for the students, and target areas of improvement.  I will assess through units, projects, group work, individual work, and hands on learning that will make my students become active learners.  This learning will tie into the world around them, and assessing in these ways will allow my students to become the best and most active members of their communities.
