About Me!

Hello Everyone!

    My name is Miss. Richards!  I'm getting ready to embark on my FIRST EVER teaching job, and I couldn't be more excited!  I've created this blog to share some of the things that your child and I will be doing in the classroom!  I'm super excited for this journey, and I want to share a little bit about myself with you!

    I grew up not far from here in Brewer, Maine.  I have two younger sisters, Brooke, and Alexa.  My mom is a first grade teacher, and my father is a Firefighter!  I'm also engaged to my best friend Nick!  I graduated from Brewer High School in 2013, and I participated in many activities.  All through school I played Field Hockey, Basketball, and Softball.  I have also danced all the way from the age of five.  I was lucky enough to be a student at Top Hat II Dance Studio in Holden Maine.  I got to be involved in many amazing activities such as competing and winning at National dance competitions, and getting to perform at Walt Disney World, twice!
    Dance is my passion, and I decided to continue that passion in college.  I am an Alumni of the University of Maine Dance Team.  I performed with the schools marching band and pep band.  We performed at halftime of football and basketball games.  I also got to offer many different opportunities such as dance day during football season where kids get to dance on the field with us, to our day dance clinic we offered every winter.  Dancing at the University led me to meeting all sorts of new people and getting the chance to dance to live music, which is really cool!  My freshman year I even got a chance to dance at Gillette Stadium!  Yeah, that's right!  The home of the New England Patriots!
    When I'm not at school I like to do many other things.  I absolutely love camping and being outdoors.  Summer time is my favorite time because it means I get to go hiking, and camping with my family.  Sure camping may mean my parents have our camper set up at a campground for the summer, but it's our little camp and it's perfect!  Yes, I also do enjoy going camping in a tent.  My favorite place to be is at Katahdin Shadows in Millinocket.  It's my favorite place to stay before a big hike up Mount Katahdin which I have completed three different times.  I absolutely love hiking in good ole, Acadia National Park, but my favorite hike to do is Gulf Hagus in Brownville, Maine.  The waterfalls are beautiful, and lots of fun to swim under in the summer!
    I also enjoy many fall activities such as hunting.  Over a year ago Nick and I got to welcome our French Brittany Spaniel Lacy to the family.  She is our loyal hunting dog, and is so incredibly amazing at being able to point birds.  It's such an entertaining process to just sit back and watch.
    In the winter I enjoy snowmobiling with my family and Nick's family.  Our favorite ride is to hit the trails behind Nick's parents house in Brewer and head to Holden to Pats Pizza for dinner.  It's my favorite trip to take in the winter!  When we aren't snowmobiling we go skiing, and we recently just found a new love of snowshoeing.  I also love spending my summer nights fishing on the lake at Nick's camp or my parent's camp, going for a boat ride, sitting around the fire reading a book and listening to the loons.
    I'm an avid book reader, and Harry Potter is my favorite book series of all time.  I also have a hard time naming more favorite books because I just have so many!  During my summer days you will most likely find me at the Brewer Recreation Department working at the summer camp programs.  I love spending my summer days planning activities for the kids, and playing dodgeball.  My kids at camp are my favorite part of the summer.  They make the days so much fun, but they also make the days go by so much faster!
    If there is one important thing you should know about me, it's that I love Disney! My family and I are big Disney people!  We are always talking about our love for Disney movies, the Disney parks, and watching the movies together.  I've been lucky enough to go to Disney four times, and this summer was my fifth!  My trip this past May Nick surprised me with not only an engagement, but with my parents and his parents as well.  It was an incredible vacation at my favorite place on Earth surrounded by friends and family.  Did I mention?  I'm already planning on going back during April Vacation!

    So, there is a little bit about me!  I'm so excited to get to know all of you and your child and I can't wait to see the adventures this year brings!
